Our Core Values
The values that matter to us most at Christ Community Church are those that we believe Christ emphasised and placed great value on in His word in one way or another.
They define who we are as a community of Christ’s disciples influencing every decision we make and action we take underpinning our identity and character as a local church. These are to be firmly rooted relationship, intentional in mission and open to the prophetic.
Relational
To value, prioritise and focus on actively fostering and growing interpersonal relationships based on Christlike love for one another is essential for Christ community church. The Lord Jesus Christ charged His disciples with a new command setting the standard for interpersonal relationships between His own and a marker of identity “…love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34–35).
Missional
To be unswerving in our focus and commitment to the Great Commission Christ entrusted His disciples with in Matthew 28:19 – 20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” As His church, we are determined to remain focused on the task of making disciples of all nations.
Prophetic
We desire and are committed to remaining open and sensitive to God’s voice and His message to us today. The Lord Jesus Christ concluded His messages to all the Churches in Revelation 2 and 3 with the exhortation, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches”. His desire for and constant appeal to the local church was to heed the voice of the Spirit to her, to be a listening church, i.e. a prophetic church. We want to cultivate and foster a permanent listening posture seeking Christ’s mind on everything in His church in acknowledgment of His headship over us, His body (Ephesians 1:22,23).
